About Us
Built on intellectual sovereignty
LJF Media Holdings was established in 2023 to protect creative ownership and to cultivate literature that speaks with moral clarity and historical relevance. Born from the completion of the book C is for Colored, the company reflects a commitment to intellectual sovereignty, historical fidelity, and disciplined publishing. Though written about events more than six decades ago, the relevance of C is for Colored increases yearly, as political forces attempt to bury American history and resurrect regressive attitudes. The landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act are mentioned several times prominently in the book. Quote from C is for Colored – Chapter 8: Leaving C1. “As we were getting the news of our apparent liberation from the talons of segregation, the Civil Rights Bill of 1964 was winding its way through the Byzantine, arcane rules of the United States Senate. It was a major advancement for Negroes in protecting our constitutional right to vote, thereby protecting us from the worst natural inclination of some white people.” On May 6th, 2026, the United States Supreme Court reversed the 1965 Voting Rights Act, after previously gutting much of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, because they could, and there is no sell-by date or expiration year for American racism. We seek authors who approached their work with conscience, passion, gravity, and an understanding of their historical moment, who also find joy in the craft of writing. We offer emerging writers guidance through a confusing industry and a principled alternative to publishing instability and spectacle. LJFMedia Holdings exists to protect the work, protect the writer, and preserve the word.

“Worth Your Time
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this turned out to be a great read. The story feels real because it comes from the author’s own life. It is educational without feeling like a history lesson, and I learned a lot from it.”

“Dr. Larry Ford’s “C is for Colored” is a welcome addition to the canon of books by Black people telling about their experiences with racism, particularly in a time when public schools were still separate and not equal. It is so important that such witness be continued for the education of white people who don’t know how long it took for Brown v. Board of education to be fully implemented, sometimes grudgingly so. Dr. Ford’s voice is authentic and also personable, as if he were talking directly to me. We hope he has another book in him to learn from.”
— Cynthia Pease

“Dr Ford has written a compelling account of his elementary and high school experiences as one of the first Black students to integrate the public schools of Harford County, Maryland in the 1960s. Dr Ford and I are the same age; I am white. Those of us who were born into segregated societies, as we were, owe a duty to see that younger generations understand the formidable obstacles that Jim Crow imposed on us, and a generation’s struggles to overcome them. Dr Ford’s wonderful book is a valuable addition to that effort.”
— Rex Gordon

“Well written, giving the reader a real sense of what it was like for students in the post-Brown vs Board of Education era.”
— Alan C Cason
