ABOUT STACEY YANG

With over 15 years of performing experience, Stacey Xiaoyu Yang has established herself as a highly sought-after and versatile musician, known for her proficiency across a range of musical disciplines. As a celebrated concert and liturgical organist, refined collaborative pianist, passionate operatic repetiteur, and dedicated music educator, Stacey’s career has been defined by her exceptional versatility, passion and depth of skills.
Stacey is a doctoral candidate in organ performance and literature under the esteemed Professor David Higgs at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She also studied collaborative piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Earlier in her career, she served as both University organ and carillon scholars at the University of Sydney, the organ scholars at St. James’ King Street and St. Paul’s College at the University of Sydney, and as VanDerlinder Liturgical Fellow at Christ Church, Rochester NY. She was school organist at SCEGGS and currently school organist at Kincoppal school Rose Bay in Sydney. Recently she took up the organist position at All Saints Anglican Church, Woollahra and St Benedict’s Catholic Church, Broadway.
Stacey holds a Master of Music from Eastman, as well as an LTCL in organ performance and an LMusA in piano performance. She has performed extensively, both in Australia and internationally, in prominent venues such as the Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Opera House, Our Lady’s Basilica in Tongeren, Belgium, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Her performances have also graced cathedrals in cities like Antwerp, Madrid, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Newcastle.
As an experienced collaborative pianist, Stacey has had the privilege of working with many notable artists such as David Elton (Principal Trumpet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra), Katie Woolley (Principal Horn, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Frank Celata (Associate Principal Clarinet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and Emma Scholl (Associate Principal Flute, Sydney Symphony Orchestra). In 2022, she worked as repetiteur for Opera Australia’s school production, Cinderella, and in late 2023, she served as repetiteur for the acclaimed site-specific new opera, Trackworks.

Among her career highlights, Stacey was honored to perform on the Grand Organ at the Concert Hall and accompany First Nations soprano Nina Korbe at the Joan Sutherland Theatre during the Sydney Opera House’s 50th anniversary celebration.Since 2024, she has regularly performed opera gala concerts at the Utzon Room of the Sydney Opera House with Shaumet Music. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Melba Opera Trust Repetiteur Scholarship for 2023 and 2024.
Stacey’s performances have been broadcast by ABC classical FM, ABC National Radio and American Public Radio.
In addition to her active performing career, Stacey is a dedicated music educator with over 20 years of experience. More recently, she has also been active as an adjudicator for music competitions. Her piano and organ students have achieved outstanding results in exams, competitions, and HSC assessments.
