Dr. Ford shares his life in a simple and honest way that kept me reading. It gave me a better understanding of what school integration was like and how much determination it took to overcome those challenges.&#8221;<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u2014 Emily S<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;whiit-fieelldss&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>&#8220;Easy to Read and Meaningful<br \/>\nThis book is written in a way that is easy to follow, but the message is powerful. I liked learning about Dr. Ford&#8217;s journey from a segregated school to becoming a doctor. It made me appreciate how important education and perseverance are.&#8221;<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u2014 David L.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;whiit-fieelldss&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>&#8220;Dr. Larry Ford&#8217;s &#8220;C is for Colored&#8221; is a welcome addition to the canon of books by Black people telling about their experiences with racism, particularly in a time when public schools were still separate and not equal. It is so important that such witness be continued for the education of white people who don&#8217;t know how long it took for Brown v. Board of education to be fully implemented, sometimes grudgingly so. Dr. Ford&#8217;s voice is authentic and also personable, as if he were talking directly to me. We hope he has another book in him to learn from.&#8221;<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u2014 Cynthia Pease<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;whiit-fieelldss&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>&#8220;Dr Ford has written a compelling account of his elementary and high school experiences as one of the first Black students to integrate the public schools of Harford County, Maryland in the 1960s. Dr Ford and I are the same age; I am white. Those of us who were born into segregated societies, as we were, owe a duty to see that younger generations understand the formidable obstacles that Jim Crow imposed on us, and a generation\u2019s struggles to overcome them. Dr Ford\u2019s wonderful book is a valuable addition to that effort.&#8221;<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u2014 Rex Gordon<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;whiit-fieelldss&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Worth Your Time<br \/>\nI wasn&#8217;t sure what to expect, but this turned out to be a great read. The story feels real because it comes from the author&#8217;s own life. It is educational without feeling like a history lesson, and I learned a lot from it.<\/h4>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"913\">\u2014 Brian C.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;whiit-fieelldss&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>&#8220;A Powerful Personal Journey<br \/>\nThis book shows how hard work, family support, and good teachers can make a big difference in someone&#8217;s life. Dr. Ford&#8217;s story is inspiring and thoughtful.
